Nondumiso Masache

NONDUMISO MASACHE is an award-winning South African documentary filmmaker and SAFTA nominated producer with over 15 years of experience in television and non-fiction storytelling. Currently, her work explores the intersection of land, identity, and environmental stewardship through an African lens. Her debut short documentary film, Umhlaba Wokhokho – Land of My Ancestors (June, 2025), which explores land dispossession, reclamation, and environmental conservation, has screened at over 15 festivals, winning three awards, an honorable mention and a SAFTA nomination for Best Short Documentary. She is the founder of Zenkosi Films, a Johannesburg based emerging production company, dedicated to amplifying underrepresented African narratives. Her second short film, Taste of the Land, about reclaiming indigenous African food ways in Johannesburg, recently premiered at the 2026 Encounters Documentary Festival. A committed industry contributor, Nondumiso has served in the pre-selection committees for the Encounters South African International Documentary Festival (2024, 2025), 2026 SIMA Awards (2026)and Nga Maanda Awe Film Festival (2026). She is an impact producer and a Talents Durban alumna, Durban FilmMart Access Lab (2023), DFMI Business Lab (2024/25), and a NEWF (Nature Environment Wildlife Filmmaking)Fellow. She is also a member of the South African Documentary Filmmakers Association where she previously served as a board member (2023/24) and programme manager for docLOVE, an initiative of free monthly documentary screenings across the country.
