Mohamed Saïd Ouma

Mohamed serves as the Executive Director of Documentary Africa (DocA), a pan-African fund that supports the development and production of creative documentary films helmed by filmmakers from the continent. He also heads the professional market at the Festival International du Film de l’Océan Indien (FIFOI), where he works to strengthen co-productions, enhance the circulation of works, and build a sustainable regional ecosystem. He has been training island-based filmmakers in project development within the DOC OI program that he co founded since 2012. He lends his expertise to leading professional organizations as a reader and for production companies as an EP and creative consultant. He also works as a curator for festivals like Fespaco, among others. He has served as a Jury for major Festivals including Sundance, El Gouna, Journées Cinématographiques de Carthage, Sheffield, to name a few. His work and advocacy center on issues of ethics, knowledge sharing, and equity in the global film industry, with a particular focus on narratives originating from island territories and the Global South.
