Marie Lora-Mungai

Marie Lora-Mungai has worked in Africa’s creative economy for more than twenty years, across twenty-seven countries. Through her company Restless Global, Marie advises development finance institutions, funds, banks and governments on investing in Africa’s creative and sports industries. Her clients include Proparco, IFC, Afreximbank, the African Development Bank and UNESCO, alongside corporates such as Warner Bros. and Netflix. She came to the finance question as an operator. Between 2008 and 2018 she built creative businesses across the continent, including Buni Media, a Kenyan studio of eighty people that produced the award-winning political satire shows The XYZ Show in Kenya and Ogas At The Top in Nigeria; and Buni.tv, one of the first African VOD platforms, which she grew to the second largest on the continent and sold to TRACE in 2016. She writes HUSTLE & FLOW, a business newsletter with more than 12,000 subscribers, and is the author of Creative Cash Flow: Mastering Money, Business and Growth in the African Creative Economy.
