Lehlohonolo Mokhosi

Lehlohonolo (Hloni) Mokhosi is a Media Industry Specialist at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of South Africa, with more than 15 years of experience spanning development finance, public policy, investment incentives, and consulting. His work focuses on strengthening South Africa’s audiovisual, gaming, and digital content sectors through strategic financing, ecosystem development, and industry partnerships. Before joining the IDC, Hloni held senior leadership roles at the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), Deloitte Africa, and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic), where he was instrumental in the development and administration of South Africa’s film and television incentive programmes. Throughout his career, he has contributed to policy reform, investment mobilisation, enterprise development, and industry transformation initiatives that have supported the growth and competitiveness of the creative economy. Hloni has represented South Africa at leading international industry platforms including the Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Durban FilmMart, and various global investment and content markets. His areas of interest include creative industry financing, intellectual property commercialisation, screen sector competitiveness, emerging digital content markets, and the convergence of film, animation, gaming, and interactive media. At the IDC, he works to advance sustainable investment opportunities within the creative and digital economy, with a particular focus on enabling high-growth enterprises, supporting industry innovation, and strengthening South Africa’s position within global content value chains.
