Kumbi Chitenderu

Kumbi Chitenderu is a Zimbabwean writer based in South Africa, working across film and television, including animation. A bookworm at heart, she makes sense of the world through story, as both a creative expression and a way of making meaning; her work is rooted in creating, shaping, interrogating, and refining the tales we tell ourselves about ourselves. She works as a script and short story writer, script editor, development executive, and story analyst. Her credits include contributing to series and feature projects at Triggerfish Animation Studios, among them Disney’s award-winning Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire and writing for the independently produced series Working Wives. She serves as Programmes Director at WATA (Womxn Activating Transformation Africa). Kumbi holds a Master’s in Creative Writing from UCT and is pursuing a PhD in Film.
