Jade Gezane

Jade Gezane is a seasoned Production Accountant, industry advocate, and business leader with over 12 years of experience in the South African film, television, and media sector. Her academic journey began with a distinction in Accounting at matric level, followed by a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting Sciences. During her studies, she commenced her accounting articles with PH Accounting before being recruited into the media industry by Ochre Media in 2012. Jade’s career in film and television finance began as a Project Finance Controller at Ochre Media, where she developed extensive expertise in production accounting, budgeting, financial controls, and cost reporting. In 2017, she transitioned into freelance production accounting, working on a number of high-profile local and international productions. Her notable credits include Mark Engels’ Masinga: The Calling, Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight alongside Paul Buys and Helena Spring, directed by Embeth Davidtz, where she served as Key Production Accountant. She has also worked on major productions such as The Masked Singer South Africa Seasons 1 and 2, Adidas commercial campaigns with Monkey Films, and numerous feature films, television productions, and commercial projects. Today, Jade is the founder of Ashes to Phoenix, an accounting consultancy firm providing financial management, accounting services, and specialised production accounting support to small businesses, non-profit organisations, and media productions. Beyond her professional accounting career, Jade plays an active leadership role within South Africa’s film and television industry. She serves as General Secretary of the Save SA Film and TV Jobs Coalition, an industry-wide initiative led by the Independent Producers Organisation (IPO), advocating for the sustainability, growth, and protection of South Africa’s film and television sector. Through her work, she has been instrumental in industry mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy, and government relations aimed at securing the future of thousands of jobs across the audiovisual value chain. Jade has also contributed to the development of future industry professionals through lecturing at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), where she taught Production Accounting, Cost Reporting, and Budgeting as part of the Media and Film curriculum. A dedicated mother of two, Jayden and Kayleigh, Jade balances her professional and advocacy commitments with a passion for health, fitness, travel, and personal growth. She is a committed woman of faith, enjoys praise and worship, and is known for her love of fitness, including pole dancing and gym training. An avid traveller and collector of German vehicles, she combines strong financial acumen with a passion for diplomacy, leadership, and advancing the South African film and television industry. Her unique combination of accounting expertise, production experience, industry advocacy, and strategic leadership has positioned her as a respected voice within the South African audiovisual sector.
