Chisomo Kawaga

Chisomo Kawaga is a Malawian all-around creative filmmaker with a passion for telling authentic African stories. Her work spans documentary, television, wildlife and environmental filmmaking, exploring stories that connect people, communities and the natural world. A NEWF Fellow and active member of the NEWF community, Chisomo has developed her craft alongside a network of African storytellers and filmmakers. She is also a graduate of the MultiChoice Talent Factory class of 2022 and was selected for Talents Durban 2025 with her documentary project One Man’s Dream. What sets Chisomo apart is her ability to take a story from concept to final cut—writing, producing, directing, shooting and editing her own work. Her multidisciplinary approach allows her to tell stories with both creative intention and a deep understanding of the filmmaking process.
