Cheyi Okoaye is a Lagos-based writer, director, and founder of the production company A Dank House. His work sits at the intersection of grounded Nigerian realism and speculative fiction, subverting horror, sci-fi, and dark comedy to explore character psychology and domestic tension. Transitioning to filmmaking in 2018 after a background in data analysis, Okoaye brings technical discipline and clinical precision to his directing. His short film Don’t think about it too much won the 2023 NEFTi Grand Prize, screening at Cannes, AFRIFF, and Durban FilmMart. A TAFM Audience Choice Prize winner and Talents Durban 2026 participant, he is committed to building sustainable independent African cinema.
