The Final Cut in Venice

Aisha Can’t Fly Away (Aisha la tastaea al tayran) by Morad Mostafa

The filmmakers went on to win:

€ 5000 offered by La Biennale di Venezia for Best Film.

€ 4,000 – € 6,000 offered by  Cinémathèque Afrique of the Institut Français (Paris).

 Rai Cinema is offering € 5.000 for a first negotiation right for the acquisition of Free TV exploitation rights in the Italian territory and obligation to mention “in collaboration with Rai Cinema S.p.a.” in the credits of the work.

 Titra Film (Paris) is offering up to € 5.000 for color-grading; up to € 3.000 for the production of a DCP master, or the creation of i-Tunes, Google or Netflix files; up to € 2.000 for French or English subtitles.

 Festival International de Films de Fribourg is offering its participation in the production costs of a DCP (€ 2.500).

Extravagant Ways to Say Goodbye

South African film producer Carolyn Carew of Free Women Films had a momentous encounter in 2020 at the Durban Filmmart Talents program, where she discovered the budding talent of Liese Kuhn. During the event, Kuhn pitched her feature film project “Extravagant Ways to Say Goodbye.” Mentored by industry veteran Kethiwe Ngcobo, Kuhn’s presentation stood out for its meticulous attention to detail, leading Carew to remark, “I knew this was a talent I could not pass up on. Her eye for detail was something I had not seen in years.”

The Legend of the Vagabond Queen of Lagos

Rushlake Media acquired the world rights of THE LEGEND OF THE VAGABOND QUEEN OF LAGOS ahead of its world premiere in Toronto.“We’re really glad we’re onboard the film, which I came across for the first time at DFM in 2019.” says Philipp Hoffmann, Rushlake Media GmbH.
