Bio

Yara Costa is a Mozambican filmmaker and artist whose work is deeply rooted in untold narratives made invisible by colonialism and white supremacy. Her work reflects her questions of contemporary post-colonial Africa connecting the past to a reimagined future. Her current project “Looking for the Mermaid” is a climate crisis story told through a love affair between a fisherman and a mermaid.
