Durban Film Mart

The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission at the 12th edition of the Durban Filmmart

The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission an entity of the KZN Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs is excited to announce that members of its Management team will present at the 12th edition of the Durban FilmMart (DFM) scheduled to take place from August 13-22 virtually.

This year’s DFM will take place under the theme, ‘Disrupt! The shape of stories to come’, and will interrogate the challenges and opportunities the changes in the film industry represent, while celebrating the new contours of access as online leads the way, as remote working connects us differently and new collaborations emerge.

Speaking about the 2021 DFM, Ms Carol Coetzee the KZN Film Commission CEO said “The Durban FilmMart’s track record speaks for itself and has provided a platform that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates excellence amongst local and continental filmmakers by giving them the opportunity to gain valuable exposure and well-deserved recognition for their national and global expansion ambitions. The unique networking events create discussions and project promotion that advances growth and expansion of African cinema. We are really excited and eagerly looking forward to this year’s DFM.”
