Durban Film Mart

Joint notice from Durban FilmMart and Durban International Film Festival in response to the COVID-19 Virus pandemic

Dear Fellow filmmakers, stakeholders, partners, film media and film industry workers,

We are receiving many enquiries regarding whether the Durban FilmMart and the Durban International Film Festival will go ahead this year in light of the South African government’s efforts to level off and minimise the risk of people in our country contracting the virus.

As our events take place in the last week in July 2020 (DFM 17-20 July and DIFF 16 – 26 July), we believe it is too early to make a decision in this regard. At this stage, we are proceeding with our planning phase. We will, however, keep a close watch on developments and should we get to a point where we believe we should indeed postpone, we will make the call. This will be done timeously and in consultation with relevant government health authorities and relevant stakeholders to ensure that potential delegates, partners, stakeholders, and film industry representatives do not make any unnecessary expenditure.

If you have any specific queries for DFM please address these to [email protected] and for DIFF to [email protected].

Thank you
