Fábio Ribeiro

Film director and producer specializing in documentary and animation, he is one of the partners of Anima Estúdio Criativo, based in Maputo, and coordinator of the audiovisual department. He has a BA in Cinematography from the Lisbon Film Conservatory (ESTC) and an MA in Media and Visual Anthropology from the Freie Universität Berlin (FU).

Over the last 20 years, he has made several films for international organizations such as the European Union, the World Bank, the United Nations, among others, as well as many other authorial or personal projects financed by international funds, namely the ACP Fund, the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), EUROMEDIA, Disney + African Anthology, or Digital Lab Africa (DLA). Throughout his career, he has worked in different places in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa, where he has lived since 2009.

In the field of publishing and animation, he was the coordinator from 2022 to 2025 of the BDPALOP project, which aims to catalyze the development, production and publication of comic books by artists from Mozambique, Angola and Cape Verde with an extension to the book markets in Portugal and Brazil. He is a member of the Friends of the Cinema Museum Association in Mozambique, and will be the Coordinator of the PALOP Cinema and Audiovisual Network until 2027.
