Sithabile Mkhize is a creative screenwriter and producer dedicated to telling stories that make the world a more emphatic place whilst rewriting the story of Africa. She is interested in telling stories that showcase the internal lives of people who have traditionally been left in the margins, consequently translating the world in a way that is both entertaining and engaging. She has been striving towards the vision over the past few five years working as a producer and screenwriter in Durban, south Africa. She has produced one completed feature film, Dreams of Gomorah, for which she also wrote the screenplay. The film, Dreams of Gomorrah was nominated for several awards and was acquired by Multichoice/Mnet for release in October 2021. She has produced two documentary films commissioned by national broadcaster E-TV, the first (Education Shall be free) aired in 2018 and the second (#AmINext?) was aired in April 2021. She has participated as a producer of officially selected projects at the Durban Filmmart twice, in 2019 and 2022, she was also part of the inaugural Durban Filmmart Business Lab where she learnt the fundamentals of running a creative business and was also selected to be a part of the Durban Filmmart Access program where she worked to develop documentary about the women of the guerrilla army formed to fight apartheid. In 2022, she was selected to travel with the KZN Film Commission as part of their delegation attending the Cannes International Film Festival. In 2023, she was selected as one of four participants who trained as script editors at the Trajectory Training Program where industry experts taught the fundamentals of storytelling from many angles.
