Charlene Mangweni-Furusa is a 6-time national and continental award-winning media personality, being awarded for her work ranging from acting in theatre, voice-over work, and TV directing. In 2024 she was appointed as a member of the national task force by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, to institute the national film strategy document, aimed at advising the government through the Ministry of Sports, recreation arts and Culture, on film development in Zimbabwe.

In film, she has had notable roles on TV in Cinema, DSTV and on Netflix since 2009. Since 2021 she has directed music videos for Nyasha David amassing well-over 5million views on YouTube. In 2022 she made her directorial debut with 52 episodes of a daily telenovela on DSTV. In 2023 she made her debut as writer/director of SEE ME, which was screened in 17 countries worldwide and won awards regionally. Her latest directorial project, FORGET ME NOT, is a short film (written by South African-based series writer Makanaka Mavengere.) She co-directs a media company MOTION ZEBRA, alongside her husband, creating visuals and audio imaging for both corporate and private clients ranging from product launch campaigns to creative visual effects.

As a voice-over artist, her voice is a staple across numerous national and international brands, ranging from TV, RADIO, instore commercials, live event announcing for award ceremonies (NAMA, Miss universe, Regional Annual Sports Awards, ICT business awards), audiobooks, podcasts, video games, Interactive Voice recordings for company hotlines, national heritage audio tours and as a daily news anchor on a national station (ZIFM STEREO) since 2015, and isiNdebele on 98.4fm Midlands. In 2022, she was awarded the African Female Voice Artist of the Year award at the Ladies in Media Awards in Ghana. In 2024 and 2025, she sat on a pan African panel for THE VOICE OVER CONFERENCE in Nigeria. Most recently she moderated the EU film festival panel by the national Arts Council of Zimbabwe, focusing on bridging the gap between policy and film production
