Bio

Ashraf Dowani, born and raised in Jerusalem, is a cinematographer with over 15 years of experience in photography and film. He began his career in Palestine and Jordan, working as a DOP on TV shows, music videos, and commercials. His passion for storytelling led him to specialize in fiction, where he worked as a camera assistant and operator on international productions, gaining insight from diverse cinematographers and gaffers.

Dowani’s style spans from bright, high-key visuals to dark, moody scenes, showcasing his versatility across genres. He has shot over ten short and feature films, many of which have received national and international recognition. Recent credits include Gaza Bride (2025, directed by Waseem Khair), Postcard from the Future (2022, directed by Annemarie Jacir), Salma (2022, directed by Sohela Ghattas), Hush (2021, directed by Samar Qupty), Hamza (2022, directed by Ward Kayyal), and Foragers (2022, directed by Jumana Manna), a 65-minute documentary.
