Zanele has been involved in television and film production for over 25 years. Currently, she’s Chair of Sisters Working in Film and Television (SWIFT), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women in the entertainment industry. She also owns a production company dedicated to enhancing local production capabilities. She was appointed as the first Executive Head of Channel of Newszroom Afrika, one of the country’s Black owned, 24-hour news channels. As Group Head of Content, for both NHU Africa and Sabido Productions at eMedia Group, she provided the board with strategic direction to meet company goals. She has worked across multiple business units with responsibility for projects and external producers across all Discovery Communications networks. Additionally, she is a board and jury member for the International Emmy Awards; Wildscreen Panda Awards; Guangzhou International Documentary Festival Awards; and the SAFTAs. She’s also a Fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative and the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
