Thabisa Ngcobo

Thabisa Ngcobo is a South African journalist, film critic and communications professional with a strong interest in African cinema, storytelling and the creative industries. She holds an Honours degree in Culture, Communication and Media Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. In 2021, she was selected for the 14th Talent Press Durban programme, presented in partnership with the Durban International Film Festival, Durban FilmMart and Berlinale Talents. As part of the programme, she contributed film criticism and analytical writing, including a co-authored interview with filmmaker Aliki Saragas Georgiou on the South African documentary I, Mary. Her writing and commentary have appeared across platforms including Africiné, City Press, Isolezwe and SUBtext. Her work has also explored African popular culture and representation in television, including commentary on Mzansi Magic’s The Ranakas and the portrayal of cultural traditions on screen. Thabisa currently works as a Social Media and Content Creator at KES Energy Services where she leads digital storytelling and content initiatives.
