Bio

Nahom Abraham, born and raised in Asmara, Eritrea, is a self-taught filmmaker and a graduate of the Eritrean Institute of Technology in Process Engineering. He was the first Eritrean to screen a short film abroad, with “Tiding” at the Luxor African Film Festival. His third short film, “Sara,” was curated and screened at the Marché du Film in Cannes as part of the Refugee Voices in Film program and was officially selected by the NewFilmmakers LA Film Festival. After moving from Eritrea, he participated in and won the third season of the NEFTI competition with his short film “Home,” which was screened at the European Film Market. Nahom’s filmmaking style, characterized by magical realism, explores interpersonal connection and communication in challenging situations to rediscover love, hope, and courage. He currently resides in Berlin and is developing his debut feature-length script.
