Bio

Jay Davidson is a unique player in the content space spanning Music, Radio, TV and online. Kicking off her career in the music business at Kiss

FM and the renowned Hip Hop label Def Jam Recordings, her career has spanned two decades including at the BBC where she launched Radio 1Xtra and led its marketing strategy for four years, before making the move to TV, where she used her skills to bring new audiences to some of the BBC’s biggest shows including The Apprentice, Luther and Doctor Who. Not many content marketers have commissioning experience; as one of the successful applicants of BBC Content’s Assistant Commissioner development programme, Jay led the commissioning of the BBC Two/Four ‘Black and British’ season , with 11 hours of peak time award-winning content, as well as Executive Producer for the series ‘Black is the New Black’ – now on Netflix – and documentaries, including The Hip Hop World News and The Last Pirates: Britain’s Rebel DJs.

Queen of the pivot, after leaving the BBC, Jay turned her hand to Unit Publicity for feature films and was headhunted for that role for the recent One Love: Bob Marley for Paramount Pictures, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and the forthcoming feature from Nia DaCosta, Hedda.
