Bio

Dillon is an award winning creative, culture-caster, marketeer, mentor, International Emmy Awards member, Promax Judge and published author As a music journalist, Dillon got his start at MTV UK, producing one of the longest running music shows that featured A-list musicians from Jay Z and Beyoncé to Justin Timberlake and Usher. He then went on to become a marketing manager at MTV before being promoted to head music channel, MTV Base.

That experience made him very much sought after to be part of the executive team that launched MTV in Africa, with Dillon spearheading the production and creative departments. He would return to London to create content for the NFL as part of its plans to have regular season games played in the UK. Thereafter, he would take a once in a lifetime opportunity to work at the London 2012 Paralympics and Olympics.

In the very same year, he would also have his first book published by Penguin. Dillon would be drawn back to Africa in 2014 and would be promoted regularly over the years to head a series of channels for Viacom International (now Paramount) overseeing brands such as MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon with strategies that delivered creativity, growth and awards working with the best Pan-African talent in front and behind the camera.

Dillon has executive produced three MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA), the network’s global awards franchise that reached nearly 1 billion viewers each year and uncovered future global music stars such as Burna Boy and Wizkid. He maintains an extensive global network working directly with talent, agents, showrunners and executives and is a co-chair on Paramount’s Diversity and Inclusion taskforce.

Dillon has created a best-in-class creative department at Paramount Africa that have delivered award winning promos and campaigns at The Loeries, Cannes Lion, Promax in Africa and Global – the latter of which in 2021 saw 2 Gold, 3 Silver, 7 Bronze across Copywriting, Brand Integration, 360 Campaign, Best Brand Image Design and Best PSA.

Whilst born in the UK, his family roots are from Kenya and the Indian sub-continent. After eight and a half years in Johannesburg, his passion for Africa remains unabated and is often asked to speak as a thought leader in media and at conferences. Dillon’s mission is to continuously shine a spotlight to the great creativity and talent emanating from Africa.
