Bio

Chuck West, President and CEO of OCTET Productions, a full service film and television production company, is a nationally acclaimed producer in Broadway, Urban Theater, and the film industry. Hailing from Central High School in Prince George’s County, Maryland, West is a former American University basketball starwhere he earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a concentration in Accounting. He commenced his career as a financier and partner, producing the landmark plays of the acclaimed playwright, screenwriter, and director David E. Talbert. During his time in the theater, West was responsible for touring and General Managed “Bring In The Noise, Bring In The Funk,” “Lord of The Dance,” “Rent,” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” In addition, he produced over a dozen David E. Talbert theatrical productions, including “He Say, She Say… But What Does God Say?” starring Kirk Franklin. Through the years, Chuck West quickly became a standout industry leader, specializing in the urban market while creating standards and procedures for industry professionals to follow. His love for his community and commitment to education led Chuck to providing countless hours of service to others. In the early 2000s, Chuck teamed with Duke Ellington School of the Arts to bring students to Sierra Leone and Senegal to experience the arts on the continent. In addition, Chuck set up internships and classes to expose students to the theater. His commitment to broadening the lives of others has never stopped. In 2015, Chuck’s love for the arts expanded to film and television production when he partnered with his wife to form OCTET Productions, a full service film production company. West has accumulated over thirty film credits and his priority remains his commitment to educating students in the DMV and across the globe, by ensuring they are allowed to experience the film industry through shadowing OCTET Productions’ department heads in order to garner experience working with different production line items and gaining experience in filmmaking. Chuck has given lectures at colleges and universities and continues to build programs that give others access. OCTET has worked with and kids from The Covenant House, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Howard University, Prince George’s County Community College and has a partnership with Bowie State University’s Fine Arts Department. “As a student, you learn a lot in class, but you can learn much more when you get hands-on experience and are exposed to various obstacles you must overcome during a live performance or on the other side of the camera,” said West. In 2022, OCTET Productions released two (2) BET+ Original projects, a prequel holiday film, “A Wesley Christmas,” which received two NAACP Image Awards nominations, OCTET’s 1st thriller, “Stalked Within,” and its first TV Series, “HUSH,” which premiered on AMC Networks streaming service ALLBLK, and was rated Number 1 on the service and AppleTV. With no end in sight, West has taken 2023 by storm, culminating filming for yet another BET+ Original Holiday Film and a sequel, “A Wesley Christmas Wedding,” an OCTET Original, “A Kismet Holiday,” and in partnership with Edmonds Entertainment and BET, “Wake,” a suspense thriller starring Shoniqua Shondai, J. Alphonse Nicholson and DeRay Davis. Most recently, Chuck wrapped filming on the second season of “HUSH” for ALLBLK.
