off-topic is an independent South African film production company based in Cape Town and New York. The company's core ideology is to tell stories generally considered off-topic. off-topic investigates complex topics concerning the other, and dismantles the notions of identity. Formerly known as THOC (The House of Creatives), off-topic is an art collective founded in 2016 to give a voice to new and inspiring stories. Theatre highlights include "Bacchus in Hillbrow" (Aardklop 2016, SU Woordfees 2017, Vrystaat Arts Festival 2017), "When Clouds Sing" (Vrystaat Arts Festival 2017) and "GUY" (New York Summerfest 2019). Short films include "Love. Thy. Neighbor." (New York CUNY Film Festival 2018) and "The Vegan and the Hunter" (kykNET Silwerskerm Film Festival 2022). off-topic's first feature film project, "SOAP", was selected for the Durban FilmMart Institute's DFM Access 2023 fiction programme.
