CTIAF are excited to announce the winners of this year’s 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐲 Animation 𝐏𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 which took place on 27 April 2023 at the Cape Town International Animation Festival in collaboration with ComicCon Africa. The winners will join the South African Animation Industry Delegation at the Annecy/MIFA 2023 SA Pavilion sponsored by the National Film and Video Foundation.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬:

– Naledi by Lola Aikins
– Bekkra by Tshepo Sefadi
– Azania Rises by Farayi Chinyanga
– Mythunderstood by Jenna Read
The competition has been running for three years with over 17 South African projects that have pitched at global markets. The programme is a Tshimologong initiative that offers a 6 month incubation and platforms to pitch their projects to potential investors. This is in partnership with the National Film and Video Foundation South Africa, the Cape Town International Animation Festival, Annecy/MIFA Animation Film Festival Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct, the French Institute of South Africa, and the Durban Film Mart Institute.
