WEAAM WILLIAMS

BIO

Weaam Williams is a screen-writer, director, actor and poet. She has found her voice as a woman and activist using cinema. Her on-screen acting debut was in the proof of concept short film, Two Hues which has won five awards among them being Best Women Empowerment Film at Berlin Short Film Festival and Best Lead Actress. Her documentary directorial debut, Hip-Hop Revolution, won the Best Edited Film Award at NYC Reel Sisters Film Festival with Spike Lee as head of the jury, and has been broadcasted in 28 countries. Weaam undertook her last released documentary film, District Six Rising from the Dust in 2013, and completed it in 2019. It has won four Awards, including Best Documentary at Wales International Film Festival, and an Award of Excellence from the Scandinavian International Film Festival. Weaam is currently in post production for another documentary called “The Rise” which was selected to showcase a work in progress, at Cannes Docs 2019. Weaam has completed the feature length screenplay for Two Hues. This project has been selected to pitch at European Film Market and Cannes NEXT. Two Hues has also been released as an NFT and has been adopted by a popular platform still to be announced.
